Day 1: Hong Kong Adventure
April 1, 2012
From our flight from Dubai to Manila, we chose the Cathay Pacific flight with the longest stop-over in HK (16 hrs). For most this is quite absurd but our mission is to visit Mickey and friends at HK Disneyland without added expenses like air tickets and accommodation. Another plus that we learned later is that there is discounted Tourist Pass at HK$ for same day inbound and outbound flights.
We arrived at HK Airport around 6am and headed to the immigration area. Since we have Philippines’ passports, we don’t need a visa for the next 7 days (I only need less than a day). Then to the bathroom to change clothes and some grooming things, no place to take a bath but if you really want there is an option at the airport itself but of course you need to pay.

We had breakfast at Maxim’s inside HK Airport and by the time we finished it’s almost 8am. We headed to the take the bus to City Outlets (it’s still closed by that time) and took MTR (train) from Tung Chung to Sunny Bay (1 train station) and transfer to a special HK Disneyland train.
Tung Chung Station beside City Outlets
specially dedicated Disney train at Sunny Bay Station
We arrived at HK Disneyland past 9am and since it opens at 10am, we got extra time to take pictures and video on the outer entrance, fountain and main entrance. There is also a locker area near the main entrance at HK$60 for each bag, so we stuffed all our hand carried things in one bag (it pays to have a big knapsack).
We stayed in HK Disneyland until 3pm (a separate post is needed for HK Disneyland), fatigue wins over and we headed back to City Outlets. There we ate at Food Republic, roam around City Outlets and headed back to the airport by 6pm. We still have 4 hours to wait and rest till our flight to Manila.
So tired (imagine 8 hrs flight from Dubai to HK + 5 hrs HK Disneyland + 5 hrs travel, transfer, etc) but the trip and memories were all worth it.

Ugh Disney Land!!
Never been to HK DL parin til now. TT
how nostalgic! i rememeber being so hungry upon arriving in the airport and just had to taste burger king kasi iba daw ang lasa ng BK doon. haha.
sayang naman hindi kayo nagtagal masyado sa disneyland. kung sa bagay, sure ako pagod na pagod na kayo by then..
cheers
I usually squeeze in a day or two in hong kong if my connecting flight is in hong kong.
i wish my family and i could go there also.
Love to visit HK one day! So nice to see all those pics. Great captures you have here!
This is the coolest side trip ever! Good for you to have thought of this… =)
ahhh… hongkong… i never had the time to go there…
(
How’s the ramen? It looks filling!
I havent got the chance to go to HK disneyland… but i did went to Tokyo Disneyland and i think thats one of the most memorable events of my childhood like…
That’s actually a nice layover despite not getting any rest from all the traveling. But I’m sure Disneyland is worth it. I’ve actually been to HKG twice now. But I’m saving to visit it for later so that I can enjoy it with the whole family.
Anyway, glad you enjoyed it there.
16-hour stop-over! I won’t take a pause too if I were in your shoe and make use of that time to see as much places as I could without added expense on the airfare
i wanna go there too!
A long trip but it sure seemed fun. That ramen looks intriguing
One of the places I wanna visit with my family.
My s-i-l and family just visited HK last April. I am looking forward to be there in December.
great tips pede pala yun, nakakatipid ka nga naman, at pede din palang lumabas ng airport para mamasyal
I love the breakfast. Noodle soup with hotdogs(?) and sunny-side up eggs.
HIndi pa ako nakapunta ng Hong Kong. pupunta dapat kami dati pero hindi natuloy. LOL.
Oh, i missed HK, hoping to visit HK again but this time with my daughter sana, ramen looks delicious =)
I dream of going to Hongkong in the future with the little one
My daughter went to HK last summer, and I so miss it! It was the best 3 days of my life. Looking at your pictures makes me nostalgic
Interesting post! It makes me wanna go back to HK, it’s been 4 years I bet there’s a lot of changes! and I’m sure you had a great time! Happy Blogging!
I wish I could bring my son to HK Disneyland. He will be really happy because he loves Mickey Mouse so much!
My aunt is working in Hongkong and I wanna visit there someday. Disneyland!
going there soon!
)) you really had a great time!
You sure made the most of your five hours
Great way to make use of long layover time. But it looks so tiring though I’m sure you saved a lot by taking this route. Quite fun too, that is if the kids are willing.
disneyland is still in my wish list.
what a jam-packed tiring trip but indeed so worth it….
thanks for sharing…
I’ve never been to places outside the Philippines because we simply could not afford it. With the meager income that we earn and four kids, we’d rather save up for their education. But given the opportunity, Hongkong would be among our destinations (Vatican City and South Korea are at the top of our list).
So nice! HK Disneyland is still on top of our wishlist. I bet you really had a grand time.
Visiting from BC.
what a wonderful trip that is Sis
delish foods too
it makes me drool
Kahit nakakapagod na trip I will also do what you did. Di mababayaran ang experience.
Hope someday I can visit Disney land. That’s one of my dreams
wow sis, nice vacation and tripping there. i hope i will have a chance to go there.
enjoy!
I’m planning to bring my kids to hongkong disneyland next year
hopefully, we’ll be ready by then, financially-wise
thanks for sharing this trip. pwede pala mag-enjoy sa stop over. =)
galing ng trip plan!
yummy breakfast!
A 16-hr stopover…good idea to save on accommodation nga. Tiring but at least you get to explore some tourist spots.
Ngarag kung ngarag. Hehehe. Tama yan at sinulit niyo talaga. Worth it naman yung pagod at hassle eh, diba?
The sausage at Maxim’s was my breakfast everyday during our trip.
Your stopover sounds it was very long and tiring but it also looks like it was well worth it
Good for you may stop over ng 16hours so you can visit Disneyland without extra cost.
Sana magkaroon na rin ng Disneyland dito sa Pinas (sabi nila sa subic daw magkakaroon na) para hindi na magastos pumunta ng disneyland. hehehe
Wow! It’s nice that you got the time to enjoy Disneyland even if it’s just a stop-over! So fun!
wohoo disneyland is the best thing that ever happened to me when I was in HK
Nice trip:) tired but with smile on lips for sure
Nice Disneyland! Never been there, yet hehehe, but hopefully we’ll be able to. Good that you planned a trip like that, it’s like shooting to birds in one stone.
I hope you had fun in HK Disneyland and was able to visit the four lands that had various themes. I felt like a child in a magical land when I visited the place some years ago
Hubby and I had out honeymoon in HK and Macau. Of course, we just had to stop by Disneyland. It was ok. I’m actually more excited to visit back again once my Little One appreciated Mickey and gang. But if it’s a return trip with just us adults, I think I’ll pass. It’s really targeted more for the kiddies. =)
I enjoyed myself more at Universal Studios Singapore. =)
