The Places: Albay
Been there.
Albay is in the Philippines, part of the Bicol Region (5) together with Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate and Sorsogon. I should know my geography since Albay is just an hour or less away from my hometown, Iriga City.
The biggest attraction in Albay is of course the Mayon Volcano because of the nearly perfect cone and just below it is the second in place, the Cagsawa Ruins. The Cagsawa Ruins is actually the remnant from the 1814 Mayon Volcano eruption, the church tower bell was the only visible structure after Mayon spew lava on the town and church. Recently Mayon Volcano has been actively erupting but not much damage (luckily) were done.
I had pictures of both but was hidden in some baul back home, so here is something I found in the net.
Legaspi City is the province capital and where you can find malls, schools and regional government offices.
Albay also houses beautiful beaches and resorts, our favorite is Deo Endeca Resort (I don’t know the specific town). You can see self catering holiday cottages here and there.
Taken from our 2009 family outing to Albay.
