The Places: Intramuros, Manila

24 Comments Posted in: The Places | Tags: Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Manila, Manila Cathedral, Mapua Institute of Technology, Philippines | November 1, 2011

Been There.

Beautiful, Scenic, Historical Walls of Intramuros.

Intramuros is a spanish word meaning “inside the walls”, was built during the Spanish colonization to protect the seat of the it’s government from foreign invasions.

My alma mater Mapua Institute of Technology is inside the walls of Intramuros. So basically I spend 5 years inside the walls. We have it as tambayan, kainan, study hall, date venue (HHWWPSSP) and a lot more. Aside from schools – Mapua, Letran, Lyceum, Manila High, etc, it also houses the famous churches like San Agustin and Manila Cathedral, several museums and the Fort Santiago.

Been to Intramuros once. I was looking for the historical places but I can’t find one. Or am I just expecting some old edifice to say it historical? Gusto ko rin malibot to! :)

Went here back in college to do some Fil-hispanic Architecture Research Work. Also done some field photos as our project in Humanities. But I haven’t fully explored other places inside the walled city.

We have the same Alma Mater! :) What I miss is the “wall”, Manang’s fried chicken and porkchop.

have you been to the other “ruins” landmark? like the one where the headquarters of military stood. I bumped into these places last summer when we are doing geocaching.
