Thai Som Tam

8 Comments Posted in: Meme, The Foodies, The Places | Tags: Thai Food, Thailand | August 1, 2011

My first official entry to Tuesday Travels, finally!

I was planning to join weeks back but cannot find where I saved those pictures. Luckily I remembered I uploaded some on my FB acct, so there goes the long story (more of an excuse).

I cannot forget this food, Som Tam, because one bite and my mouth was on fire – too hot even for a Bicolana to handle. But that was not the last time I ate it, since it was my friend’s fave (she’s working in Thailand and gotten used to it) we had it almost all the time. She requested to tone down the spice a little, but still it was hot.

Som Tam is Green Papaya Salad with nuts, crabs, spices, etc. It is used as appetizer and side dish like atchara. It is quite popular and available from posh restaurants to street vendors. It is best eaten together with street foods and alcohol!

Me too, I can only handle so much of spicy foods. The most I can take is Jjampong (did I spell it rightn, ?):D

But this sounds good for a pulutan, though. ;)
